The dining room

Like i said earlier in the week…..i spent last weekend switching our dining room and our living room …

and i can’t tell you how nice it is to have a larger dining room for us.

These two rooms are really the heart of our home….it’s where we spend the majority of time.

The dining room table is where we eat…..the kids do homework….we sit and play games…

and since there is no eat in kitchen….it’s our table. The table.

I wanted open and airy….for the fam….to be able to walk all around the table…and

for lots and lots of seating. There are five of us…but on a lot of nights…the kids have friends over…

and i really need to be able to seat everyone comfortably.

I even designated this little spot as the ‘time alone’ area….

because i know in my home….not everyone is pleasant to be around…so i needed a little spot where

said person….

even if it’s Bryan….

to sit alone and think about the choices they made before being let back to the big kids table;-)

I’ll show the rest of the living room next week…..

but i brought down this chair from my bedroom….and i just love it here..

next to some old stacked wood boxes that we keep the kids books in.

playing house

We had some friends over for dinner on friday evening….

funny story is….that this family lived on the same street as us back in Colorado.

They moved here one year after we did…..and i think they just couldn’t live without us…

and they nod…and say….uh huh…sure.

Roger is a Pilot…and he’s based here in Chicago…so really..they just thought it would be easier…

but i think it’s funny that we lived on the same street back then and now live within a few miles of each other.

After dinner i  grabbed the camera and started snapping some photos when cutie patootie grabbed his

guitar out and started serenading the family.

He does not realize it yet…..

but it’s all set in stone that he will one day marry Lola.

Lola doesn’t realize it yet either….so let’s just keep it between us…ok.

{i mean….you can’t not like a girl who mix and matches her stripes and plaids}

Anyhoo…..back to the weekend…..

i have been doing a little switching around the last few days….

and the reason for that is i really just wanted a more open dining room.

That’s it. That’s all.

We don’t have an eat in kitchen….so our dining room is our everything room….

the kids do homework around the table …we eat there….it’s our everything table.

So…i moved my living room into the dining room and the dining room into the living room.

Are you confused?

I am.

I’m still trying to tweak a few things…but here is a little peek.

The most important thing in my home is keeping with the feel that i want a cozy but pretty place.

I want my kids to be able to kick back and relax….but i don’t want to lose the femininity that i really love…

and in my house….feet are allowed on the sofa.

{thank goodness for slipcovers}

Hope you all had a good weekend….have you seen ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ yet?  It’s good…and i

especially like the talent…..uh huh;-)

More photos to come soon…i promise….but right now i have two kids that don’t feel so good and

i was really hoping to drive to Ikea and drop them off at the hour of free childcare this morning.
