who can i call for a little sunshine

It’s been a really long…and rough week…so let me sum it up the best i can.

*My Grammy… who just turned 92……passed away on Tuesday.

*I loved her spirit.

*I loved her soul.

*She had a wicked sense of humor…and passed it down ….i was the lucky recipient.

*I am so thankful that my kids were able to hug her when we last saw her at Thanksgiving.

*Even though we are all heartbroken to have lost her….our hearts are content knowing she’s in a better place.

*She made sure…as one last token of love….by giving her signature middle finger flip to her children

so they Β knew that she could still indeed hear them as they huddled Β and cuddled around her.

*Lola and i are flying out today…and headed to San Diego.

*I called the weather channel and asked if they could have sunny and warm weather for us.

*The nice man who answered the phone said he would see what he could do.

*Mason was home with a sore throat yesterday.

*The Doctor should have asked me first before stating aloud to him that he should stay home.

*I think the Doctor forgot that mason did NOT have school on Monday and does not have school on Friday.

*I think she also forgot that he was home for an entire week when he had his tonsils out.

*Motrin was made so that sore throats feel better and kids can go to school.

*Mason had to come with me while i got a pedicure.

*I forgot that feet could actually look pretty in the winter.

*We both watched a Chinese soap opera while there.

*I still have not lost one single pound.

*That won’t stop me from eating a good In & Out burger this weekend.

*I will plan on wearing shorts at least one day…even if i have fat divots in my thighs.

*I am pretty darn sure i won’t be coming home to a clean house on Sunday.

*I’m okay with that.

*I can’t wait to walk around Grammy’s house and take it all in one last time.

  1. I’m so sorry for the loss of your Grammy… I hope I am remembered that way by my babies and their babies…I hope you have a great weekend celebrating her life…and sneaking in a double-double with fries!

    All my best,

  2. Have a good trip Kasey! I hope you’re able to recall sweet memories while you’re there and enjoy time celebrating her life with your family. Blessings and prayers to you all.

  3. Have a safe trip. I am sorry for the loss of your grammy. I felt that way about mine too. That is so funny about the Chinese soap opera – a little secret – years ago when we lived in Ft Lee, NJ ( a primarily korean population or it slowly became that way) I used to watch Korean soap operas with sub-titles every night. Ken would think I was crazy because I had to have the volume up but read the sub-titles. I shared that with a graduate class as something no one knows about you. Just thought I’d make you laugh.
Seriously, have a wonderful trip, enjoy the family time and remember all the good times with your grammy.
    Much love,

  4. So sorry about your lovely Grammy…safe travels Kasey, xv.

  11. I’m so sorry about your grandma:( That’s a great photo! I live about an hour from San Diego and I hate to tell you we’re expecting rain tomorrow and Saturday, not sure about Sunday.

I watch a Korean soap opera that comes on some evenings, it’s sub-titled and it’s so good.

  21. A Hug to you Kasey. My grandmother turns 97 next week and she is not doing very well – I dread the day we have to say goodbye to her. I spent so much time growing up with her – and she has the BEST laugh ever.

Plus, she taught me to make martini’s when I was eight and fed me hot toddies when I had colds.

She is such a great old broad. πŸ™‚

p.s. Does your hub know that he can call us if he needs anything?

  33. So sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather, 88, two weeks ago and have still not fully processed it. Funerals are a wonderful thing in that they let you visit with family and friends and share in the great memories you have of your grandmother. And you’re right… she’s in a better place now. Safe travels.

  34. So sorry to hear that. Grandparents are the best and will always be missed.

  35. I’m sorry about your Grammy, Kasey. I love what you wrote about going to her house and taking it all in one last time. When my mother-in-law passed away, I snapped tons of photos around her house before everyone starting claiming it all. I wanted my husband to have those photos to remember what his “home” was like when his mom was around. It’s nice and comforting to look at those photos from time to time…almost makes us feel like she’s still around. Have a safe trip! ~Destiny

  58. Just catching up with blogging and I am so sorry to read this post. I am so sorry for your loss and the sad experience you and Lola will share together this weekend.

When my husband’s grandmother died, his mother urged us to please take momentos from the house and pass them down. I was horrified to go around the house taking things. I just couldn’t do it so they gave us some of her special things. I regret not having held on more of her special items so that I could hold them for my husband as well as pass them on to my children.

I hope that doesn’t sound tackily materialistic. Just know that collecting some of her special items in life that she cherished would probably make her truly happy. Best wishes and condolences to your family.

  59. i didn’t really know my grandparents…but am so grateful my kids know my mom so well…it’s always good to have strong people in your life…even after they’re gone…their strength is still with you..so sorry about your loss
