we are back

We are back…..

i really didn’t mean to take such a long break from checking in with you all…

but…

heck…this girl needed a little break….and to spend some wonderful time with the family.

We flew into  my old stomping ground……straight flight to San Diego last Wednesday…

and you gotta know that our very first stop in our hybrid rental car was In & Out.

Seriously….whenever we are in Cali…that place is our number one stop.

Thank goodness i do not live there anymore…

i would be in rehab.

Well…that and you can get two buck chuck for less then two dollars at Trader Joe’s…

not that i would know or anything….i’m just letting YOU know…that’s the TRUTH.

I even have the iphone app so that i can get turn by turn directions to the closest In and Out.

The kids loved it…..like i say….they are their mothers children.

Okay….maybe they don’t act like it…especially when having to sit next to each other in the back seat

of the car..all squished up together….but other than that…

most of the time…

i like them.

Isn’t it funny how there are the must haves when you head back to your hometown.

Coffee Bean is on that list also.

I had a few of those as well.

I might have gained a few pounds while on vacation.

My diet starts tomorrow.

I am afraid to step on the scale.

I will be eating lettuce for the next two months.

I will also need some larger pants.

I left my belt there…no need for that thing anymore.
I won’t lie…

but damn it….it was cold in San Diego.

We wore our sweatshirts with pride….but i tell you…it was still warmer then it was in Chicago.

Ohhh….and there is a beach we went to…and even with sweatshirts on….we still had a blast.

I know i did…because i was eating my double double while drinking my Coffee bean latte.

We even went for Mexican in Old Town on Wednesday night….and that included having a few

margaritas…some guac…maybe some hand made tortilla’s…..and food with lots and lots of cheese.

uh huh

and i haven’t even gotten to Thanksgiving yet.

So you see….as soon as i wash some laundry…and find out where i can get some altered

clothes for this week…then i’ll be back to tell you about the rest of our trip.

Till then…..i’m going to go and gnaw on some ice.

p.s. This post was written with my iphone while on the plane.

p.p.s. all photos were taken with my iphone while in Cali.

p.p.s.s. I love technology

p.p.p.s. I am not responsible for any misspelled words because of turbulence.

p.s.s.s. I didn’t mean to spend the whole post talking about food.

  1. I’ve had In & Out one time when we had a four hour lay over in San Jose. My friend picked me up at the airport and we drove over to one to eat.
Jealous of all of your fun times there.
I really love your photos, could you tell me how you aged them?

  2. I was getting worried about you!
Welcome home. Sounds like I really need to visit California just for the fact of drinking a latte
beach side while eating a burger.

  3. Sounds like a great time. It’s always fun to go back to a place you love and share it with those you love!

  4. Missed reading your posts! Glad you’re back.

I used to live in Cali. LA for a little while. It’s all good fun around there 🙂

Never heard of In & Out though….

  5. Food, technology, humor, sounds like you had the all-american holidays. Well done.

  6. Oh I love San Diego…even when it’s ‘cold”:) Great pictures…looks like you & family had a lot of fun!

  10. My hubby and I went to college in San Diego(Pt. Loma). So wish we could have spent some time at the beach but the in~laws live in Victorville-so we got to see the desert. Love In~N~Out! Luckily Redding has one and it’s busy all the time from people driving thru from Oregon!

  11. I’m jealous of your California trip. I ususally hit my favorite restaurants (Islands, Ruby’s, In & Out) before I even visit my friends. I miss all of those here in Denver. Glad you had a great time on vacation!

  12. Glad you’re safely home. You were missed x

  13. In & Out animal style, an ice blended white chocolate mocha and the beach, a perfect day in Cali. Next time, you’ll have to drive a few more miles north to Ventura. We have the best Mexican food stand called Corrales, they’re burritos will make you weep. No margaritas but since I live half a block from them, come on over & I’ll whip up a batch or 5.

  14. Fun! Fun! Fun! I adore In and Out too – always one of my first stops in California. 🙂

  15. Glad you enjoyed your time in SoCal, particularly San Diego, my favorite city!!

Yes, it’s been a COLD one here in SoCal….colder than what it has been the last few Thanksgiving that
    I can recall.

Gotta agree with you on In-N-Out….so good, but SO bad for ya!

Old Town Cafe’ or Coyote Cafe’? Either one, VERY good!

  16. welcome back !!
you know i love your funky little pic of you & lover boy
    xo

  17. Could that have been the Coyote Cafe??? I’m from Washington State and when we visited San Diego we ate there three nights in a row it was sooooo good. 🙂 DEE.ISH.

Hadn’t heard of the In and Out….good thing….the Coyote Cafe caused me enough trouble.

    Warm blessings,
    Spencer

  18. heart me some in-n-out. I live in Sacramento. Please feel free to stop by the next time you are in cali. I will bake you cupcakes and give you presents. 😉

  19. I am not sure what your “double double” is. But in Canada a Double Double is a medium coffee with 2 cream, 2 sugar from the coffee shop Tim Hortons.

I love hearing about food 🙂

  20. Love The Coffee Bean! We had it on vacation this past summer while in California. It was delicious. I will leave the In and Out to you. Not a fan but glad that you had fun and enjoyed your family. Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

  21. I know. how cold was it last week? Its even colder today. I’m SO LOVING IT! 😀

CA is so great, you should move back.

    seriously.

  22. Love, love the picture of you and Bryan.:)

  23. We love San Diego! And we love In n Out by LAX. We always have to drive up to LAX to eat there because of the airplanes. My son loves airplanes and my husband is an air traffic controller… its like airplane heaven for them! haha

  24. Welcome back Casey! I was starting to get the jitters from not reading your posts…I think I have a problem! So happy you are back and I look forward to ready about your travels 🙂

  28. Like the one of you and Brian. Really cute. Soup is wonderful-good on the throat. Thanks dear friend.

  29. Went to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf today, and after getting inside, thought of you, Casey! I asked the clerk if there were any in the Midwest….NOPE! Seems they only go as far as AZ!

Weather is beautiful here today…warmer than last week, too. Of course!
