it was a hoedown

Good morning Monday!

Well……i am happy to say that our little idea of a hoe down…..

which in turn ended up being a bigger idea….

then vamped itself into a full blown actual ranch setting in my back yard.

I only have but a few photos to show you all….

because i had my friend Maggie..who’s a real photographer… shoot the details for me.

So…when i get those back in a week or two…i’ll do a full blown post of the party for you.

I am a details girl.

Always have been….always will be.

It kills bryan sometimes….that i have this need for perfection…..

my friend calls it a gift……bryan calls it crazy.

I really just LOVE putting together a party…i really do.

Bryan even dressed up for the occasion….and i think he looked like a handsome cowboy.

We invited 32 of our bestest friends……

and the dress code was glamorized country.

The night was really cool…as in low 50′s….

so we had to borrow a few fire pit’s…and rented a stationary heater…

but it all came together when i threw some extra hay bales around.

The hot cider with a little {or a lot…depending on who was drinking} rum..

helped take the chill off.

We dined on fried chicken…..potato salad….buttermilk biscuits….corn salad….

and honey butter.

Have you ever had honey butter?

I whipped up softened salted butter with honey to spread on the biscuits.

I love butter.

I love honey butter.

I might have eaten it by the spoon full.

Then the dance instructor showed up….and taught us all how to line dance.

It was a blast.

I promise there was no pole dancing going on….just line dancing.

Oh….and you’ll have to wait to see what dress i chose….i’m hoping Maggie got some

photos of us doing a little hoedown throwdown.

  39. Angie says:

Oh my goodness! It looks like it was such an amazing party! We did our baby girl’s first birthday party this year, as the biggest party I’ve ever thrown, and it was nowhere near the grandiose-ness of your party, but I was POOPED by the time it was all over! I love all the wonderful details in the photos. How fun to plan a theme party like this!

  40. Jennifer says:

I just love HOW you blog. You are so funny and random and creative and interesting. I was just reading your post from September 9. It’s great. Looks like your party was great too. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more of it!

  41. so. much. fun! it looks like you guys had a blast!

we live far away from our friends- they all live in Madison, and we live like 25-50 minutes away from them. well, that’s considered “far” around here…these people haven’t been to chicago. ;)

anyway, my point is that in order to get our friends out here, we feel like we need to lure them in somehow. so we’ve been coming up with themed party ideas. i have to say that a ho-down had not crossed my mind, but i may need to steal it for next summer!
