Rainy days and spring haze…..

It rained most of the weekend.
I don’t mind…..because it’s better then snow in my opinion.
I also realize it is only the middle of march…
and with this being my 3rd spring here…
i have a feeling this fabulous weather is just teasing us.
I don’t think i would want the rain everyday….
something about frizzy hair…
but one weekend in just fine.
windows cracked open
wet cement
worms
rain boots
umbrellas
puddle jumping
laughing
yelling
mud
happy children
{though i wouldn’t be honest if i didn’t tell you that finding worms …
that fell out of pockets into the washing machine…
and made it into the dryer…
only to be found while folding laundry …
is just not a fun end to the day}

We also experienced Alice in wonderland.
loved it.

love.

love.

love.
I bought lola this new skirt…
only to get her in it…
snap a few photos…
and have her tell me that she doesn’t like puffy.

I’d just like to thank the specialty children’s boutique for letting us
BORROW

that gorgeous skirt.

…..

Mason went to his first concert on Saturday….

i gave him my ticket to see the black eyed peas.

Bryan and mason took the train into chicago saturday morning

in time to see the river turn green.

Chicago does that every year for the st. paddy’s day parade.

They also spent the night…it was a boys weekend.

I remember my first concert….it was

The Jackson Five

then two months later i got to see

Madonna

i was in 5th grade…my dad moonlit as a security guard

at Dodger stadium…..

so he was able to get me and my girlfriends into these concerts

for free.

I look back now and think of myself as an 10/11 year old

at the “like a virgin tour”.

I will forever remember it…

and i hope Mason remembers his first concert…

not just the concert itself…but a night away with his dad.

Last night i rented the movie…Coco before Chanel.

It was really good….

and today i’m making crab cakes with mango salsa.

yum.

oh…did you want the recipe….

sure….no problem..

because it’s been about two weeks now hasn’t it.

{winner of giveaway coming soon…i just have to get thru Fin’s 5 year shots today}

Pretty things….

It’s been another one of those weeks….

and in the whole realm of things…

something like my heart breaking over something that

really is not that big of a deal…

it’s so silly actually…..

but when it involves one of my children..

it matters to me.

I wish i could stand up and shout out…

no..

this can’t be happening…

but it’s going to..

and how i wish i could write it all out right now..

so i could hear feedback from you…

but not today.

Change happens whether we like it or not.

Anyway…..

Pretty things are on my mind.

Like these pretty plates from Anthro….

4 of them to be exact.

Perfect for having a little lemon bar party of your own.

Pretty things like these chandie shades that i finally took some

photos of for you.

Remember the post 2 weeks ago that i told you about my

creative neighbor making these gorgeous shades…

I finally semi~dusted my chandie so i could get some decent

shots for you.

I even have a large one….

because i love pretty things.

I realize some of you like pretty too…

maybe you would like your own pretty shade…

or a few chandie shades?

we painted Lola’s room last weekend.

ummmm.

okay…you got me….

i didn’t mean we as in my husband and i…

but my fabulous painter guy did.

Can you tell the difference?

My little Fin and his bestie sure like to play in lola’s room…

i don’t get it…

i think he’s like me…

and needed some pretty that day.

I realized last weekend that when Lola said

NO

to a pale grey room….

that maybe aliens had abducted my real daughter..

and brought some random girl in her place.

ahem…

but then my real Lola returned to me when

she said…

let’s just keep it cream.

So she got a fresh coat of paint…..

a tad bit darker….

but pretty.

We like pretty things.

Pretty things are on my mind. I ran to Barnes & Noble this morning

to grab the newest Boho magazine

which features Paris in the springtime.

I love Boho magazine.

Are you still here?

hello?

buehler?

If you are…and you need a bit of pretty today….

just leave a comment.

It’s the i need something pretty today giveaway;-)

One lucky winner will get a custom shade {like above} or 3 mini chandie shades…

4 pretty plates from Anthro….

my favorite Tokyo milk lip balm from Anthro…

{i promise i didn’t use it yet}….

oh…

and the current spring issue of Boho.

Blog or tweet about it…and i’ll double your chances.

Two ways to wear it….

My problem is i like clothes…..
and i really like them when they cost less then $30.
So….
when i find a screaming deal….
i want you to benefit as well.
I just wanted to show you TWO ways …
even though there are multiple ways…
to wear this cute wrap dress that i picked up
at Target last week for $25.
Dress it up with some tights ..
{which i also scored at Target on clearance for $3}
and wear some cute knee high boots.
The boots are from Anthro last year….but i see them
on Ebay all the time.
I also feel like a great pair of knee high riding boots is like
investing in your child’s education….
it’s a great investment;-)

Or….dress them down…

and wear the dress over jeans…which are tucked into your boots.

This is where you can actually wear those skinny style jeans…

because your tush isn’t showing….it’s covered by the dress.

If you don’t have knee high boots…wear the dress over jeans…

with a ballet flat.

Now…go forth …and blow the other moms away.

*style tips provided to you today by my new sponsor: Air France*

*just kidding….it sounded good though…*
