it’s a new day here

So…it’s Monday here…and i just wanted to pop in real quick…since it’s a school day and all…

and my kids have been home from school for

two.whole.weeks

i’m not even counting the two weekends before and after.

Mason will be heading off to school this morning {fingers crossed..} even though it’s been a very Β rough go of Β this whole

tonsil and adenoid removal process.

I really had NO clue that it was such a big deal….and here we are…on day 7…and he still

takes his Tylenol with codeine every four hours.

I took mine in my coffee this morning.

{totally just kidding….don’t need the pharmacist showing up here confiscating any much needed meds}

Last week i went for the very first time to a Restoration Hardware Outlet….and it was magical.

My friend had gone the day before..and even though it’s a good hike up to it…she told me they had

my table i desperately coveted. I really want a round table for my dining room…

so we loaded the kids up…and drove the hour and fifteen there…

and they did not have my table.

Note to self: call store before making trip with three kids in mini van and a boy who just had surgery.

They had the table top…which i’m sure for someone would be awesome…but i guess i wanted a base

to go with mine…ya know…just in case we wanted to eat at it or something.

On a totally separate note….i’m making my first ever homemade soup today.

We had a honey baked ham for Christmas…so i decided that i could probably boil the thing down…

and make some sort of ham soup from it.

I had to call a few people first…..to make sure that was something i could do….even though

in my French cookbook it said i could…i had to double check.

check check.

So…right now…i have the soup in the crock pot….and i will have one very happy husband tonight.

Oh…and i’ve completed Season One of Mad Men.

I watched it all weekend to get caught up so i could speak the lingo with those of you that are die hards.

It also really makes me want a ciggie…….

i mean…..i wouldn’t necessarily smoke it in bed next to bryan…..

or at the doctors office as i sit with Mason…..or even in the kids room.

I also think i don’t need to be totally skinny anymore…that a nice rump and a tiny waist is all i need.

Oh….and some new clothes.

Yes…some new clothes…..and an apron.

I might even have dinner waiting for bryan tonight and have the kids all nicely tucked in bed….

sound asleep….when he gets home.

I’ll be sure to have my apron on though.

Oh…and one last tiny little note……i just want to say out loud that any clothes i buy from Anthro…i will keep.

I’m saying this because i happened into my Anthro last night…and took some clothes back to the dressing room..

and the girl who i had never seen before…put me in my room and asked me if my name was Kasey.

I thought to myself…..damn…they have these new girls trained right…knowing the frequent customers names

like that….that was fabulous that they did that.

But no….

she said to me….

I.READ.YOUR.BLOG.

So…..needless to say….i will not mention anymore that i buy and return anything…ever…ever..again.

I love Anthro…and i keep all of their clothes.

  1. LOL! What a post. The last part about Anthro and the blog? Oh my. Sorry about the table and yes, always call. I don’t think that you will forget to do that again.

Soup sounds yummy and now I want to rent Mad Men!

  2. I love Mad Men!!
I would also love a cigi, but French of course;-)
Glad to have you back to blogging , I’ve missed you.

  3. I think I know which table you are talking about. Is it the reclaimed wood?
I love that one, and think it would look FABULOUS in your dining room.
Are you still going to paint the room Plum?
    Kate

  4. You are hilarious. Thanks for keeping it real for us.
I’m off to comment for the giveaway since I just got back from Vacation.

  5. Hallelujah to the kids going back to school! Mine had the full 16 days off, too, and one wanted to try to stay home today on account of a cold. I sent her in anyways. And Mad Men? YES!!! (I’m thinking of changing my name to Jane, seeing as I have the red hair and all… I just need someone to style it for me every morning. I’ve got the aprons, too – though they’re more for Betty…)

  6. It’s a new year…a new Monday…& you still crack me up! Thanks for the smiles, Kasey:)

  7. We are on day 6 of our post tonsillectomy adventure with my seventeen year old. Good times. She is still home today and I am counting the days until she can go back to school. I was feeling like I couldn’t send her back as long as she was hopped on pain meds. Now you have me rethinking it!

  8. Lol! I cant believe she recognized you from your blog!;) happy Monday!

  9. hahaha that’s hilarious… and for the record Joan is my body image hero. Love. Her. I also love reading your blog. πŸ™‚ Thanks for keeping us laughing into 2011 and happy new year!

  10. Several years ago, when my son was in 5th grade and my youngest daughter was in 1st, they each had their tonsils removed on the same day.My son also had his adnoids removed. My daughter returned to school in 3 days, my son healed much more slowly. The good thing is – neither of them has ever had steph throat again!
Thanks for always making me laugh. I would have loved to see the look on your face when the Anthro sales girl called you by name!

  11. Ha! That’s hilarious! It sounds like something that would happen to me. I hope your soup is fabulous . . . I’m sure it will be. Listed you as one of the best posts of 2010 yesterday on my blog. I look forward to reading your posts every day. Happy 2011.

  12. Poor Mason!!! I had both my tonsils and adenoids out when I was 14….8 weeks later and I was BARELY beginning to feel ok again. My doc did tell me that had I eaten more my body could have healed faster…but it was just too painful!

  13. Wow! That is funny! I hope your enjoying your soup! Sounds yummy!

  14. oh no!!
    almost “caught in the act”

  15. First time here – and you- are wicked funny! In case you are not from the New England area – that translates into “really funny” – Have a great (kid free until 3pm) day.

  16. that is hilarious!!! you need to tell her what happens on a blog, stays on a blog! πŸ˜‰

  17. Kasey, You are so funny. I get excited every time I go on twitter and see you made a new post πŸ™‚ I am glad you update often! Good luck with that soup!

    Fellow food/antique lover,

    Lauren.

  18. Hope Mason feels better soon. Guess being Bloggy-famous isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, huh? LOL!

  19. I know exactly what you mean about post surgery recoveries, they can go on and on and on… (my daughter had a bone graft last Spring). Keeping Anthro – ohhh that is so making me laugh ❈

  20. so sorry your son is still hurting.
At least the kiddos are back in school, lol!! I still have 3 at home for another week.
    Happy New Years.
    xoxo

  21. huh, if she reads your blog she must know that you have tons of anthro stuff that you wear and love and just one dress that you loved and thought of maybe returning. πŸ˜‰
hahaha, that’s so crazy. Now you’re never gonna be allowed to return anything. Better make sure you super love it before you take it home πŸ˜‰

I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out when I was really little… all I remember about it was that they told me to count to ten when they put me under and i was frustrated that I never reached it, and also that I had been told I could have as much ice cream as I wanted after but NOT that I would not want ice cream! Clearly I felt pretty deprived over the whole fiasco.

  22. What a great blog and such great pictures! Just found it and I will have another look! Hughs Anja

  23. You never fail to make me giggle! Funny you want a round table, I want a rectangular table now. I am tired of my round table. And the other day I said to my daughter that I wanted to start getting Mad Men from Netflix. It looks so good.

  24. you are LEGIT if you’re getting noticed in public. lol. you might want to consider a wig and some new anthro shades soon… πŸ˜‰
    p.s. adorable pics. xo

  25. Okay, I had to pop out of my reader because this cracked me up about Anthro! Was she smiling when she said it or staring you down? Lol! You’re a celebrity now.

Sorry about the table. Or lack there of. We had a Restoration Outlet not 20 minutes away. I went there one day for some lights. It was closed! Yep, they shut it down. A sad day indeed. They had such good stuff too.

  26. haha! i love your writing :]

also, i love that you were “noticed” at anthro. i was “noticed” recently at the craft store. fitting? ;]
    xoxo

  27. wow!!! you are a blogging maven!! that’s soo awesome the anthro girl recognized you~!!! πŸ˜€ well maybe not so awesome b/c now you can’t talk about returning things… ha

  28. is that the restoration hardware outlet in pleasant prairie? i used to live 10 minutes from there and never even knew that it existed until the week before i moved to madison! for the better, i suppose. πŸ™‚

  29. hope Mason gets to feeling better
    love the pictures…of course:)

very cute about anthro…maybe some sort of bribe may work *if* you need to return anything {possibly kidding there}…but maybe they’ll remember the countless anthro give-a-ways you do over a few small returns here or there right?
    thanks for the laughs
    xo

  30. oh my goodness — I would have turned and ran out of the store (well, probably after I stopped to look at something that caught my eye)…………….do you think they have an Anthro ten most wanted shoppers list?

I just love reading your newest adventure — although I am so sorry that Mason is still sick

I love the outlet store too — you just have to be there when they get the new shipments —- have you ever done pottery barn outlet in Ohio? 2 friends and I drove all the way back to Illinois with a dresser strapped to the top of the jeep — and 2 bar cabinets in the back — and me sitting scrunched up in the back (no seat — no room) —– it was worth every painful mile –even if it took weeks for my legs to work again!

  31. Hey! That’s so cool that you were recognized and she knew you’re name…now you must totally see what it feels like to be a celebrity. Now when you go to Anthropologie you will just have to go incognito! I bet that girl was embarrased after asking if it was really you and then seeing the look of shock on your face. Poor girl. You just have to remember that the readers of your blog really get to know you from your daily posts….guess its kinda weird but its like were friends! She probably got all excited that she recognized you. Just take it as a compliment girl…you’re a cool chick! And we all love ya!

  32. Brandi Ann Asan says:

    Kasey,
    You.Crack.Me.Up!
    Love ya’!

  33. Well, you made her look, huh? Your test worked! Now Anthro *thinks* you take back clothes. They know who you are. They should start sponsoring your blog.

    Ya hear that, Anthro? Mm-hmm!

  34. You have a R/H outlet! I am ever so jealous Ugh! I was just at the store in Portland yesterday and I think I always stay a lil to long they look at me funny. I just want to take it all in.Your a celeb at Anthro! Oh ya and your poor lil guy I feel for him I had my tonsils out at 22 and it was the worst ever I lost 13 lbs and my daughter had her’s out at 15 she lost 12 lbs.It took both of us 14 days, two long weeks to feel better.I don’t think school was a good idea it really is that bad.Ugh! Wouldn’t ever do it again that’s for sure thank god I don’t have to.~Cheers kim

  35. You crack me up! Sorry about your table missing it’s bottom…bummer! I love Anthro too even though my boobs get in the way of buttoning up their sweaters and blouses properly. Guess I need to stay with their jewelry and home decor!
    XO Nancy

  36. the ladies at Target know my name
    well, not really
no one knows my name…except for CT light and power…and the collection agency….

you have really hit the big time
    HAPPY NEW YEAR

  37. happy.new.year.
    you are the best read.
    seriously.

  38. Love your blog. I’m a new reader and so enjoy getting my day started with a huge mug of coffee and your wonderful wit. Thanks for helping me get moving in the morning!
    ~Heidi

  39. never a dull moment for you my friend …. you’re like a magnet to excitement and drama! wishing you all that’s good and interesting in 2011…jennifer jennsthreegraces

  40. i sure wish i could remember if i entered the camera/Anthro giveaway, since of course my name is Amanda and my heart fluttered when i read that on my blog updates. probably not me though. πŸ™‚

as for your Anthro situation… i supported that completely and now am hysterical with laughter over the whole thing. you.are.awesome. πŸ˜‰

  41. At least the Anthro employees don’t say “Hey, Meredith…how are you? How is work at Ethan Allen?” They even know where I work. That means….a) I talk to much and offer wayyyy too much information to random people…and….b) I go to Anthro wayyyy too often!!

    xo, Meredith

  42. How funny! Anthro’s clothes are the cutest. I was just there a few days ago and had to stop myself from buying anything. Just barely made it out of there with my wallet intact. πŸ˜‰ It’s very cool to know your blog is so popular though, isn’t it? Wow. A new kind of celebrity in this digital age.
